The safest way to prevent these scratches while cleaning is to use microfiber towels that are highly absorbent and gentle on surfaces. 

Using Alcohol-based Products in Leather Upholstery

Many people want leather seats for their cars, but cleaning a leather car seat is not as easy as it sounds. They require special care to maintain their quality and the use of alcohol-based cleaners can strip away the protective urethane coating on leather, leaving it exposed to cracks, fading, and hardening.

To keep leather upholstery looking and feeling like new, use dedicated leather cleaners that nourish and protect the material. These products are specifically designed to preserve the softness and durability of both real and faux leather.

Using Wrong Detailing Brushes

While it might seem like a sunny day is perfect for car detailing, working under direct sunlight can lead to faster drying of cleaning products, causing streaks and water spots. Additionally, intense heat can make certain chemicals react unpredictably, potentially damaging your car’s surfaces.

Whenever possible, detail your car in a shaded area or during cooler parts of the day. This ensures that cleaning products work as intended, leaving a streak-free finish.

Neglecting the Engine Bay

While many car owners focus on cleaning the exterior and interior, the engine bay often remains uncleaned. Neglecting the engine bay can lead to dirt, grease, and debris accumulating over time, which may hinder performance and even cause long-term damage.

Cleaning the engine bay requires care and the right approach. Avoid using high-pressure water, as it can damage sensitive components. Instead, use a degreaser specifically designed for engine cleaning and soft brushes to gently remove grime. 

Skipping Wax and Protective Coatings

Your car’s paint does more than make it look good, it also acts as a shield against environmental damage. Skipping wax or protective coatings leaves the surface vulnerable to harmful elements like UV rays, dirt, and moisture, which can lead to fading, oxidation, and even rust over time.
